Biography
Dr. Fadia Panosetti received her PhD in Social and Political Science from the Free University of Brussels in February 2023. She was then awarded a Wiener-Anspach Postdoctoral Fellowship to spend the academic year 2023-24 at the Margaret Anstee Centre for Global Studies (MAC), Newnham College, under the joint supervision of Prof. Emma Mawdsley and Dr. Mezna Qato.
Research Interests
Dr. Panosetti focuses her research on the histories and theories of agrarian struggle and economic, social, political change among rural communities in the Middle East, particularly in Israel/Palestine. She is currently expanding her doctoral research, titled “Land, Livelihoods and Agrarian Change in Israel/Palestine: Between Dispossession, Resistance to it, and Neoliberalism”, by examining the political economy of export-oriented agricultural clusters in the West Bank, and their implications for land-based social relation among Palestinian rural communities. To do so, she adopts an innovative approach that brings the fields of agrarian political economy in dialogue with settler colonial and indigenous studies and relies on variety of ethnographic and archival materials.
