Biography

Dr Elli Mylona completed her BSc in Biology at Imperial College London, before being awarded a Medical Research Council studentship to do a MRes in Molecular and Cellular Biosciences and a PhD in Prof Gad Frankel’s lab at Imperial (CMBI). During her PhD she worked on the pathogenesis of typhoid fever and its causative agents. Since 2019, she is a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Cambridge (Dept of Medicine, CITIID) within Prof Stephen Baker’s group.

Research Interests

Dr Elli Mylona’s research lies in infectious diseases, molecular biology and pathogenesis and is working with the bacteria that cause typhoid fever. Her research focusses on understanding antigenic variation of these organisms, with the aim of exploiting this in developing next generation therapeutics and vaccine design. Her current research aims to more applied and translational outcomes.
