There were happy scenes from the Bumps weekend on 15 and 16 June as we broke ground for our new sustainable boathouse and named our latest boat ‘Joanna Burch’ after alumna, rowing Blue and past President of (Cambridge University Women’s Boat Club (CUWBC), Jo Burch (NC 1983).
Our crews were buoyed up by the cheers of supporters on the banks of the Cam. Women have been rowing in the Bumps in VIIIs, rowing against male crews as CUWBC for more than the 50 years. However, the Women’s divisions and College IV’s have been competing in the Bumps for 50 years this year.
