In this video, Wei Bi (NC 2021), this year’s recipient of the US Travel Bursary, explains how the Bursary has helped support her work and what her experiences have been studying in the US.
Wei is a third-year PhD Candidate in Infrastructure Resilience under Climate Change. She is based at the Centre for Sustainable Development & Centre for Smart Infrastructure and Construction, part of the Department of Engineering. She is now on a secondment in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Princeton University and has been meeting alumnae in Washington and New York.
Recently, Wei organised a workshop with the Climate Resilience Team of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority of New York City. She shared her research progress and, along with her collaborators from Transport for London, learned from their experience in recovering from Hurricane Sandy and their current resilience strategies in climate change adaptation.
